With magnificent views of both the lake and wetlands, impressive mountains and the ocean, cycling around Wairarapa Moana can be very rewarding. There aren’t too many vehicles on the road and you’ll be riding on the flat most of the time.

Cross Creek Road to Ocean Beach

A 36km ride through quiet farm country, and along the shores of Lake Wairarapa and Lake Ōnoke to reach Palliser Bay (2-3 hours). This is a small section of the Remutaka Cycle Trail.

Loop around the Lake

A 67km loop (3-4 hours). From Featherston, ride down the Western Lake Road, turn into the East-West Access Road, then left into Kahutara Road to return to Featherston. This ride forms part of the Wairarapa Valley Cycleway.
