In Lake Wairarapa where every year about 200 godwits hang around the mudflats on the eastern lake shore in the spring and summer months.They do a massive round trip of 30,000km from New Zealand to Alaska.
What they look like:
Long beaked with mottled feathers and a chestnut or grey body.
