Giant kōkopu

Where you can find them:
In slow- flowing streams, lakes and wetlands. They migrate between freshwater and the ocean to complete their life cycle.
What they look like:
Brown with creamy white spots, this fish can grow up to half a metre in length and weigh over two kilograms.
Did you know:
Giant kōkopu are most active at night. They got their latin name ‘Galaxias’ from their spots that look like a galaxy of stars.
