can survive out of water during drought

Mainly in New Zealand’s wetlands.
What they look like:
A long, slender, thick skinned fish with no scales that grows up to 17cm.
Did you know:
Mudfish would have been very common before European settlement in New Zealand. Since then, we’ve lost over 95per cent of the extent of our wetlands and our mudfish have suffered.
